Health Connect Setup
Pushi reads from Google Health Connect, so your watch's own app has to write to Health Connect. One-time setup, about two minutes.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
A Galaxy Watch syncs to Samsung Health, and Samsung Health shares with Health Connect once you switch it on. The same switch covers the steps your Samsung phone counts on its own.
Turn on Health Connect in Samsung Health
Open the Samsung Health app, go to its settings and tap Health Connect. Follow the prompts to connect.
Allow everything when Health Connect asks
Choose Allow all so steps, distance, calories, exercise and heart rate all come through.
Sync your watch and open Pushi
Let the watch sync to Samsung Health, then open Pushi. Its Health Check (in Settings) lists Samsung Health as a source once data has arrived.
Garmin
On Android 14 and above, Garmin Connect writes to Health Connect itself. On Android 13 and below it can't, so a separate app called Health Sync copies the data across.
Android 14 and above: turn on Health Connect in Garmin Connect
Open the Garmin Connect app, go to its settings and connect Health Connect, allowing everything it asks for. Garmin's guide shows exactly where the switch is: Syncing Garmin Connect with Health Connect.
Android 13 and below: use Health Sync
Install Health Sync, choose Garmin as the source and Health Connect as the destination, and allow the permissions it asks for. Health Sync is made independently and isn't affiliated with Pushi.
Sync your watch and open Pushi
Sync your Garmin in the Garmin Connect app, then open Pushi. Its Health Check (in Settings) lists Garmin Connect, or Health Sync, as a source once data has arrived.
Fitbit & Pixel Watch
Fitbit trackers and the Google Pixel Watch sync through the Google Health app (formerly the Fitbit app), which shares with Health Connect once you turn that on.
Turn on Health Connect in Google Health
Open the Google Health app, go to its settings and turn on Health Connect. Google's guide has the current steps: Sync Google Health data with Health Connect.
Allow everything when Health Connect asks
Choose Allow all so steps, distance, calories, exercise and heart rate all reach Health Connect.
Sync your watch and open Pushi
Let the watch sync, then open Pushi. Its Health Check (in Settings) lists the Google Health app as a source once data has arrived.
Huawei
Huawei Health doesn't write to Health Connect, so a separate app called Health Sync copies your activity across. Health Sync is made independently and isn't affiliated with Pushi.
Install Health Sync
Get Health Sync from Google Play and open it.
Sync from Huawei Health to Health Connect
Choose Huawei Health as the source and Health Connect as the destination, then allow the permissions both ask for.
Sync your watch and open Pushi
Sync the watch in Huawei Health, give Health Sync a moment, then open Pushi. Its Health Check (in Settings) lists Health Sync as a source once data has arrived.
Other watches and apps
The pattern is the same for every brand: find Health Connect in the watch app's settings, turn it on, and choose Allow all when asked. These brands publish their own guide:
- Xiaomi (Mi Fitness app) — turn on Health Connect in the app's settings
- Amazfit (Zepp app) — turn on Health Connect in the app's settings
- Oura — Oura's guide
- WHOOP — WHOOP's guide
- Polar — Polar's guide
- COROS — COROS's guide
- Withings — Withings' guide
- Strava — allow Strava to write to Health Connect in Strava's own settings. A Strava run adds distance and calories, but not steps.
If an app has no Health Connect option, Health Sync can often bridge it. See troubleshooting in the FAQ for more.
Troubleshooting
My activity is in Health Connect, but not in Pushi
Open Pushi; it reads Health Connect on launch and re-checks recent days. If something is still missing, open Health Connect → App permissions → Pushi and turn on every category. On Android 14 and above Health Connect is in the phone's Settings; search for "Health Connect".
My watch's activity isn't in Health Connect
Your watch has to sync to its own app first, and that app has to be allowed to write to Health Connect. Open the watch app and sync, then check Health Connect → App permissions: the watch app (or Health Sync) should be listed with its categories turned on. If it isn't listed at all, go back to the steps above for your brand.
Still stuck?
In Pushi, open Settings → Health Check to see which apps are writing data. Or email support@pushi.fitness with your watch model and the name of its app, and we'll take a look.
